Lesson - 33

About The Crescent
Narrated Ibn `Umar: I heard Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) saying, "When you see the crescent (of the month of Ramadan), start fasting, and when you see the crescent (of the month of Shawwal), stop fasting; and if the sky is overcast (and you can't see it) then regard the month of Ramadan as of 30 days."
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Book 30, Hadith 10)

About Approved Deeds
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "A man saw a dog eating mud from (the severity of) thirst. So, that man took a shoe (and filled it) with water and kept on pouring the water for the dog till it quenched its thirst. So Allah approved of his deed and made him to enter Paradise."
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 1, Book 4, Hadith 39)

About Sins
Narrated Al-Ma'rur: At Ar-Rabadha I met Abu Dharr who was wearing a cloak, and his slave, too, was wearing a similar one. I asked about the reason for it. He replied, "I abused a person by calling his mother with bad names." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to me, 'O Abu Dhar! Did you abuse him by calling his mother with bad names You still have some characteristics of ignorance. Your slaves are your brothers and Allah has put them under your command. So whoever has a brother under his command should feed him of what he eats and dress him of what he wears. Do not ask them (slaves) to do things beyond their capacity (power) and if you do so, then help them.' "
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 1, Book 2, Hadith 23)

About Standing in Prayers
Narrated Al-Mughira: The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to stand (in the prayer) or pray till both his feet or legs swelled. He was asked why (he offered such an unbearable prayer) and he said, "Should I not be a thankful slave."
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 2, Book 19, Hadith 10)

About Leading People
Uthman bin Abul-‘As narrated that the last thing the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) enjoined on him was that he said: “When you lead people, keep it short for them.”
(Sunan Ibn Majah, Vol. 1, Book 5, Hadith 1041)
